It’s a soggy wet mess outside this spring in Tallahassee, but summer is coming and so is the hotness that is the Mickee Faust Club’s annual “Queer as Faust” festival! The company has several performance events scheduled all leading up to the summer solstice “Queer as Faust XI” cabaret the last two weekends of June.

“We have something to bring out the diva in everyone!” says Susan Gage, one of the producers and co-founders of the annual celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride month at the Mickee Faust Clubhouse.

The month of events kicks off this Friday, June 1st, with “Queerioke” inside the Clubhouse at 623 McDonnell Drive in Railroad Square. Stroll in from taking in the First Friday happenings, throw on a feather boa, and do your best Selena Gomez or David Bowie for an adoring audience of Faustkateers and fun-loving strangers.

The following weekend, the company is producing “Pulse Wake,” a commemoration through performance of the tragic murder of patrons at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in 2016. The event will be at 8pm, Saturday, June 9th, in the Adelaide Schnittman Hall in the Faust complex. Entry is free and there is a suggested $10 donation. Proceeds will go the One Pulse Foundation.

The grand event of the month is the “Queer as Faust XI” cabaret, slated for Friday and Saturday, June 22-23 and then Thursday through Saturday, June 28-30th in the Adelaide Schnittman Hall (read: air-conditioning!) We’ll keep the house cool but the performances will heat up with lots of original skits, songs and parodies of classics all with a very queer twist.
