In June, 1969, in the sweltering heat of New York City, a police raid on a bar in Greenwich Village sparked the riot that became the revolution for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* equality.

In June, 2008, in the sweltering heat of Tallahassee’s relentless summer, the Mickee Faust Club cabaret troupe began a tradition of celebrating LGBT pride in all its many varieties with the mostly-annual Queer As Faust cabaret. The fabulous “Queer As Faust VIII” opens the weekend of June 19-20, and runs the following Thursday-Saturday, June 25-27, at the Mickee Faust Academy for the Really Dramatic Arts, 623 McDonnell Drive in Railroad Square. Back yard entertainment with Eclectic Acoustic and cold refreshments start at 7:30pm with the shows going up at 9pm.  There will also be food trucks for the Friday and Saturday shows to complement the arrival of the new Black Dog on the Square coffee house.

“This is definitely a ‘queer’ show!” says Mickee Faust, the cigar smoking rat alter ego of performer Terry Galloway. “There are gay penguins and ‘darling’ dinosaurs with plenty of melodramatic family moments and bathroom hyper hijinks. No need to bring your papers to pee in freedom-loving Faustlandia!”

Tickets to the shows are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, retirees, and people with disabilities. The Thursday night performance celebrates the weekend early with $5 off the ticket prices. Tickets are available for advance purchase through our website: A limited supply is available at the door the nights of the shows. Bear in mind that the Clubhouse does not have climate control, so best to dress in comfortable casual for the evening, and make it an “Adults Night Out.”
